What are the Noahide Laws?

By Mike Schroeder

Preface: All this information was copied from internet sources that promote and believe in these laws. I put this here because I think it is imperative that Bible believing Christians understand some things about them, as follows:

1. While some of them mimic the Decalogue (ten commandments) in Exodus 20, namely, the 1st, 3rd, 6th, 7th, and 8th, they are not specifically mentioned anywhere in the Bible. They come from the 6th-century Rabbinic Babylonian Talmud.
2. All Christians, i.e., people who believe in and claim Jesus Christ to be the only begotten Son of God, indeed, God come in the flesh, whose sacrifice on the Cross paid for all sin for all time, need to understand that the first of these laws, which Zionist Jews want to have enshrined as law and enforced on all Gentiles in the world, makes espousing this belief to be tantamount to idolatry, which is a capital offense, punishable by death. In other words, if these laws become the law of the land, they will effectively outlaw the practice of Christianity.*

*These laws will not outlaw Islam, because Mohammed, in the Koran, never claimed, as Jesus Christ claimed, to be God. He only claimed to be the last prophet of God.

What are the Noahide Laws?

The seven Noahide laws as traditionally enumerated in the 6th Century AD Babylonian Talmud Sanhedrin 56a-b and Tosefta Avodah Zarah 9:4,[21] are the following:[22][23]

Maimonides states that anyone who does not accept the seven laws is to be executed, as God compelled the world to follow these laws.[57] For the other prohibitions such as the grafting of trees and bestiality he holds that the sons of Noah are not to be executed.[58] Maimonides adds a universalism lacking from earlier Jewish sources.[50]: 18  The Talmud differs from Maimonides in that it considers the seven laws enforceable by Jewish authorities on non-Jews living within a Jewish nation.[50]: 18  Nahmanides disagrees with Maimonides’ reasoning. He limits the obligation of enforcing the seven laws to non-Jewish authorities, thus taking the matter out of Jewish hands. The Tosafot seems to agree with Nahmanides’ reasoning.[59]: 39  According to some opinions, punishment i

The Modern Noahide movement

Menachem Mendel Schneerson encouraged his followers on many occasions to preach the Seven Laws of Noah,[10][45] devoting some of his addresses to the subtleties of this code.[40][41][87] Since the 1990s,[10][16] Orthodox Jewish rabbis from Israel, most notably those affiliated to Chabad-Lubavitch and religious Zionist organizations,[10][16][88] including The Temple Institute,[10][16][88] have set up a modern Noahide movement.[10][16][88] These Noahide organizations, led by religious Zionist and Orthodox rabbis, are aimed at non-Jews to proselytize among them and commit them to follow the Noahide laws.[10][16][88] These religious Zionist and Orthodox rabbis that guide the modern Noahide movement, who are often affiliated with the Third Temple movement,[10][16][88] are accused of expounding a racist and supremacist ideology which consists in the belief that the Jewish people are God’s chosen nation and racially superior to non-Jews,[10][16][88] and mentor Noahides because they believe that the Messianic era will begin with the rebuilding of the Third Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem to re-institute the Jewish priesthood along with the practice of ritual sacrifices, and the establishment of a Jewish theocracy in Israel, supported by communities of Noahides.[10][16][88] In 1990, Meir Kahane was the keynote speaker at the First International Conference of the Descendants of Noah, the first Noahide gathering, in Fort Worth, Texas.[10][16][88] After the assassination of Meir Kahane that same year, The Temple Institute, which advocates rebuilding the Third Jewish Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, started to promote the Noahide laws as well.[10][88]

1 – Do not worship false gods

Acknowledge that there is only one G‑d who is Infinite and Supreme above all things. Do not replace that Supreme Being with finite idols, be it yourself, or other beings. This command includes such acts as prayer, study and meditation.

2 – Do not curse God.

Respect the Creator. As frustrated and angry as you may be, do not vent it by cursing your Maker.

3 – Do not murder.

Respect human life. Every human being is an entire world. To save a life is to save that entire world. To

destroy a life is to destroy an entire world. To help others live is a corollary of this principle.

4 – Do not be sexually immoral.

Respect the institution of marriage. Marriage is a most Divine act. The marriage of a man and a woman

is a reflection of the oneness of G‑d and His creation. Disloyalty in marriage is an assault on that

oneness.

5 – Do not steal.

Respect the rights and property of others. Be honest in all your business dealings. By relying on G‑d

rather than on our own conniving, we express our trust in Him as the Provider of Life.

6 – Do not eat a limb removed from a live animal.

Respect G‑d’s creatures. At first, Man was forbidden to consume meat. After the Great Flood, he was

permitted – but with a warning: Do not cause unnecessary suffering to any creature.

7 – Set up courts and bring offenders to justice.

Maintain justice. Justice is G‑d’s business, but we are given the charge to lay down necessary laws and

enforce them whenever we can. When we right the wrongs of society, we are acting as partners in the

act of sustaining the creation.

According to the Talmud, the seven laws were given first to Adam and subsequently to Noah.[31] The Tannaitic and Amoraitic rabbinic sages (1st–6th centuries CE) disagreed on the exact number of Noahide laws that were originally given to Adam.[3][7][9] Six of the seven laws were exegetically derived from passages in the Book of Genesis,[33] with the seventh being the establishment of courts of justice.[7][9] The earliest complete rabbinic version of the seven Noahide laws can be found in the Tosefta:[

NOAHIDE LAWS PASSED BY CONGRESS:

Here’s the Law As it Reads on the Books…

APPENDIX ONE
105 STAT. 44 PUBLIC LAW 102-14-MAR. 20,1991

Public Law 102-14
102d Congress
Joint Resolution

Mar. 20. 1991
[H.J Res 104] To designate March 26. 1991, as “Education Day. U. S. A.”

Whereas Congress recognizes the historical tradition of ethical values and principles which are the basis of civilized society and upon which our, great Nation was founded;

Whereas these ethical values and principles have been the bedrock of society from the dawn of civilization, when they were known as the Seven Noahide Laws;

Whereas without these ethical values and principles the edifice of civilization stands in serious peril of returning to chaos; Whereas society is profoundly concerned with the recent weakening of these principles that has resulted in crises that beleaguer and threaten the fabric of civilized society; Whereas the justified preoccupation with these crises must not let the citizens of this Nation lose sight of their responsibility to transmit these historical ethical values from our distinguished past to the generations of the future;

Whereas the Lubavitch movement has fostered and promoted these ethical values and principles throughout the world; Whereas Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, leader of the Lubavitch movement, is universally respected and revered and his eighty-ninth birthday falls on March 26, 1991: Whereas in tribute to this great spiritual leader, “the rebbe”, this, his ninetieth year will be seen as one of “education and giving”, the year in which we turn to education and charity to return the world to the moral and ethical values contained in the Seven Noahide Laws: and Whereas this will be reflected in an international scroll of honor signed by the President of the United States and other heads of state: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatites of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That March 26, 1991, the start of the ninetieth year of Rabbi Menachem Schneerson, leader of the worldwide
Lutbavitch movement. is designated as “Education Day. U.S.A.”. The President is requested to issue a proclamation calling upon the people of the United States to observe such day with appropriate ceremonies and activities.

Our Mission

Amazing Grace Bible Study Fellowship (AGBSF) is a local non-denominational church fellowship dedicated to the publishing of the Gospel of Christ (Romans 1:16), and the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery of Romans 16:25 and Ephesians 3:3. Our goal is to study the Bible in accordance with 2 Timothy 2:15, in order to become established in the truth of it according to Romans 1:11; to the end that we might come into conformity with the will of God for our lives according to Romans 12:3.
